Music
At Calvary Baptist Church, we take the ministry of music seriously because we believe that worship belongs to God and should be shaped by His Word. We look to Scripture to understand how God desires to be worshiped, and our desire is not simply to sing well, but to worship faithfully—to please God, exalt Jesus Christ, and encourage His people.
The Congregation Is Our Primary Choir
Our congregation is the first and primary choir. Every believer has a part in the worship of the church, and every voice matters as we sing together. We believe congregational singing is an important way the church teaches, encourages, and ministers to one another while giving glory to God.
At Calvary, we seek to glorify Christ through both modern hymnody and the great, cherished hymns of the faith. We value the rich heritage of songs that have served the church across generations while also embracing faithful new songs that help us express the unchanging truths of Scripture in our own day.
Our goal is not simply to preserve old music or pursue new music, but to choose songs that are biblically faithful, Christ-centered, and worthy of congregational worship. We want our singing to help us remember what God has done, rejoice in what He is doing, and look with hope toward what He has promised to do.
As our music ministry continues to grow, we desire to maintain a high standard of musical excellence while remembering that excellence is never the ultimate goal. Our music exists to edify the saints, serve the congregation, proclaim the truth of God's Word, and above all bring glory to God.
